Custom Medal Ribbons

Ribbons get treated as a colour choice at the end of the order. They are half the product, they are the half a runner actually handles, and three things about them are decided badly almost every time.

First the bar width. A ribbon narrower than the opening in the medal lets it slide and hang skewed; a ribbon wider than the opening will not pass through at all. We match it to the medal we are making, which sounds obvious and is routinely not done.

Second the drop. Half the ribbon length is where the medal hangs, and there is a real difference between a medal at the sternum and one swinging at the navel. Third the weave: sublimated polyester takes photographic artwork and gradients, woven jacquard takes bold type and holds it crisply for years. Neither is the better one, they are different jobs.
