Connector medals are the strongest retention idea in the sport: three years of a series that lock together into one piece, and a runner who will not skip year two.

They also fail more often than anything else we make, for one reason. The set gets designed one year at a time. Year one is drawn on its own, year two is drawn to fit it from a photograph, and by year three the joining faces do not meet, the thicknesses differ and the finished set sits crooked on a wall.

So we draw the whole family first, fix the joining geometry and the tolerance across every year, and hold the files. Only then is year one tooled. It costs a little more thinking at the start and it is the only version that actually works.
